UC Berkeley, Tolman Hall

Northwestern Design helped give Tolman Hall on the UC Berkeley campus a facelift. The eight-floor, 340,000-square-foot remodel began in March 2017 and finished in April 2018. The building houses the School of Public Health, Graduate School of Education and the Department of Psychology.

NWD constructed the walnut wooden benches found on multiple floors inside the complex. The area includes new classrooms, offices, open work stations and collaborative space. Most importantly, these wooden benches give students added space to study.

Other work in the project included multiple break rooms and a security desk as well as the Dean’s office. NWD also helped coordinate the design of the countertops and shelves in the Dean’s office.
